Santos Party House is one of our favorite venues in New York. Not only is the Chinatown club owned by the amazing Andrew W.K., it also features a killer sound system, some of New York’s best dancing and the city’s most epic lineups. This week it’s the Musicka Mystica Maxima festival — two days of seriously weird sounds that pay homage English mystician Aleister Crowley (best know as the guru whose writings inspired Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin), the alchemy of music, the vernal equinox, and all things mystical and magical. The jam-packed show includes a performance by Genesis P-Orridge and Thee Majesty (Bryin Dall and Morrison Edley), as well as a jam session with saxophonist John Zorn and bassist Bill Laswell. To find out more about the festival, check out WNYC’s interview with singer and composer Larkin Grimm.
