All morning at Museyon HQ, we’ve been bemoaning the number of remakes at the movie theaters recently: a new ‘Fame’ film hits theaters in September, Zac Efron is taking over for John Travolta in ‘Saturday Night Fever,’ and a new ‘Nightmare on Elm Street,’ is headed to theaters in 2010.
Not to mention the recent wave of blockbusters based on toys (‘Transformers‘), re-remakes of books-turned-films (Tim Burton’s take on ‘Alice in Wonderland‘) and attempts to revive D.O.A. movie franchises (‘Indiana Jones‘). C’mon, would it kill someone in Hollywood to have a new idea?
Well, turns out we’re not alone! At last week’s Comic-Con International, director Peter Jackson told the LA Times, movie fans are “fed up with the lack of original ideas.”
What do you think? Are there any recent remakes you’ve liked? What’s the worst remake of all time? Any films you’d like to see remade? Tell us in the comments.
