In their ongoing noble quest to chart the strangest locations of McDonald’s franchises on this busy little planet of ours, Jaunted has reminded us of an old gem that had been completely buried under socks and sweaters in the closet of our minds—the existence of a Golden Arches near Rome’s beautiful, famous Spanish Steps. As you can see by the Flickr photos above and below, this is no ordinary Micky D’s—mosaics, sculptures, gelatos, wine, and other non-standard items dress up what might be the nicest outlet of the much-maligned chain restaurant in the world. Indeed, if only for novelty’s sake, we’ve added on the list of places to go when delving into the life and art of Rome’s favorite oil-and-canvas badboy, Caravaggio. Naturally, there are thousands of truly exceptional restaurants to visit when you stop by the Eternal City—but a classy McDonald’s? This we gotta see to believe. Wonder if they have those fancy new ketchup packs too
