For the past ten years, The Village Voice has been bringing free and amazing music to the Coney Island boardwalk in their annual Siren Festival. This year’s festival takes place on July 17th, noon until 9pm, come rain or shine. The full line-up for the show has yet to be revealed but so far Matt & Kim, Ted Leo and the Pharmacists, Harlem, Surfer Blood and Pains of Being Pure at Heart have all been announced. The festival is all ages and takes place behind the boardwalk in two separate parking lots. The two parking lot stages switch off set-times for their bands meaning that even if you can’t see the entirety of each set, you’ll at least get to sample every band. The July date usually means the sun is out in full force for Siren so bring sunscreen, water and a couple of bucks to buy a Famous Nathan’s Hot Dog.
