The Hamburger Bahnhof Museum for Contemporary Art in Berlin is offering something very special, the opportunity to stay overnight in the museum accompanied by a herd of reindeer.

For the sum of 1,000 euros, for either one or two people, you can stay in the museum in the art installation SOMA by Carsten Höller. The exhibition is an exploration of the ancient Hindu ritual drink Soma. No one knows what the drink mentioned in the centuries old texts may have been but one idea is that it came from urine from reindeer that was fed a certain type of mushroom. In Höller’s exhibition, he has assembled a group of reindeer and fed some mushrooms. It is the viewers job to distinguish which reindeer appear more enlightened, the mushroom eaters or the ones fed the placebo.

Visitors wishing to get up close and personal with the experiment/exhibit can stay in a floating, outdoor hotel room perched above the reindeer enclosure on a mushroom shaped platform. The cost of the stay also includes a private, nighttime tour of the museum as well as breakfast in the morning. Bookings are taking place through February 6th, every night but Sunday.
