Edvard Munch: Master Prints,’ has just opened to much acclaim in Washington D.C. The exhibition, which will run through October 31st, features 60 of Munch’s most important prints in order to show “how his persistent experimentation and virtuosic handling of woodcut, lithography, and intaglio endowed different impressions of his primary motifs with new meanings.” Munch’s work is known for its dark portrayals of his torrid love affairs as well his haunting scenes conveying alienation, jealousy and death.
The exhibition is a collection of both the museum’s holdings as well as two little seen pieces from private collections.
