Now in its tenth year, The Primavera Sound Festival is one of the most enduring and beautifully set of the European Summer fests. And over the course of its ten years, the festival has only grown, from 8,000 tickets sold in its first year to over 74,000 in 2009.

The Primavera Sound Festival takes place May 27th to the 29th in the Parc del Fòrum, right on the Mediterranean Sea in the city of Barcelona. The park is situated at the northern end of the Avinguda Diagonal (Diagonal Avenue), which traverses the city and is easily accessible by public transport. The Parc del Fòrum is the 2004 site of Universal de las Culturas and Swiss architects Jac Jacques Herzog and Pierre de Meuron designed the main building there.

Some things to remember before you hit Primavera:

  • Drinks besides open topped water bottles are not permitted but food is so pack some snacks.
  • The metro closes early on Thursday and Friday night but not to worry, Primavera will have shuttle busses going to Plaza Catalunya in the center of the city at night. The shuttles cost 2euro.
  • You are allowed to leave the festival and return so those visiting Barcelona can hop out to hit any other tourist attractions while in the city.
