In the Museyon Guide to Film + Travel, Mikael Awake takes you beyond of the “Axis of Evil” for a look at Iran’s role in the global film industry.
In addition to writing about film, Awake has also taken a turn behind the scenes. He is currently working on a screenplay about a travel agent who is afraid of flying, and is also co-writing a script about marathoner Abebe Bikila. Previously, he went to Ethiopia to help film the IDA award-winning documentary, A Walk to Beautiful, about women suffering from fistula.
About the experience, Mikael says: “I’ve been to Ethiopia several times, because many of my family members live there. But when I went there a few years ago to shoot a documentary at the Addis Ababa Fistula Hospital,” I saw a side of the country — the pain, the beauty, the quiet dignity — that were revelations to me.”
