Looking for a place to film your next blockbuster? A one-stop shop to get you from pre-production to the final product? As long as you don’t plan on talking dirty, maybe it’s time to think about Dubai. Located in the United Arab Emirates, Dubai is a city that boasts everything, including, as we learned yesterday, Dubai Studio City — a massive film complex inside the equally evocatively named Dubai Media City. Let’s take a look, shall we…
The brand new (although in Dubai, what isn’t?) studio complex is spread over 22 million square feet, featuringing of “production, post-production, broadcast, equipment rental, freelancers, commercial offices, business centre and satellite facilities,” as well as “residential areas, hotels, an entertainment centre, film schools and training institutes.” Not only that, work with DSC and they’ll make sure you get all the location permits you need to film within the United Arab Emirates.
Hollywood director Robert Cohen (‘The Fast and the Furious,‘ ‘xXx‘) calls it, “a miracle.” Not too shabby. What do you think? Is Dubai the next Hollywood? The next Vancouver, at least?
