A week from today, the Museum of Biblical Art will open it’s summer show entitled The Glory of Ukraine: Sacred Images from the 11th to the 19th Centuries. The exhibition “will survey the history of Ukrainian icons and their stylistic evolution over the centuries” through icons from the “collection of the oldest monastery in Ukraine, the Kyiv-Pecherskaya Lavra (or Monastery of the Caves).” It is an exciting exhibition that incorporates textiles, ceremonial and liturgical objects to better understand “the blending of East and West in their iconography and style.” MOBIA will be the first venue in the United States to host this exhibition which will be on display from June 18th until September 12th.
Here’s a tip, check the museum’s site and Facebook page regularly for programs related to the exhibition. They are always popular and space fills up quickly.
