The Studio Museum Harlem has announced their latest in the series ‘Intersections: Conversations on Art & Culture.’ Next month’s installment will feature a conversation between writer, contributing editor to Vogue and “America’s Next Top Model” judge André Leon Talley and up and coming fashion designer LaQuan Smith. Smith’s custom designs have been seen on Lady Gaga and Rihanna to name a few.
Earlier this month, Associate Curator Naomi Beckwith travelled out to St. Albans, Queens, a neighborhood where once W.E.B. DuBois to Lena Horne and LL Cool J called home, where Smith works to catch-up with him. There, Smith described the ‘LaQuan woman’ to Beckwith saying “She’s sassy, she’s a woman of style and elegance. Every day for the LaQuan Smith woman is an event.”
See the always sassy André Leon Talley speak with LaQuan Smith September 16th, 7pm, at the Studio Museum Harlem. Admission is free and first come, first served.
