Spotlight On…Sugar Club, Barcelona

When looking for good food, music and a drink that won’t break the bank in Barcelona, head to Sugar Club. This funky restaurant and club is known for having some of the best salsa in the Barcelona and has a happy hour that lasts until 11pm each night. The lounge and music opens at 8pm but before that, its well-known chef serves lunch and later in the evening, dinner- remember that in Spain one doesn’t even contemplate dinner until 9pm.

Sugar Club is located in Barcelona’s World Trade center, in the Barca district, and offers expansive fews of the beach. The dress is upscale here and most people come to dance to the music of well-known resident djs David Mas and Gustavo Sosa and guest djs on the weekends. The music can range from contemporary pop, 80s, reggae, house to of course salsa. The sumptuous interior of Sugar Club means that those who arrive early can claim a couch to watch the inevitable floor show of dancers. Because Sugar Club is a lounge, it is often just the first stop on a long night out for Barcelona locals.
