This Screening Goes Up to 11

Spinal_Tap

Calling all Berliners! Time to turn it up to 11. Tonight you can catch the mockumentary that started it all, 1984’s ‘This Is Spınal Tap,’ at the Freiluftkino Insel at Cassiopeia in Friedrichshain at 9 p.m. The site is in German, but it promises one funny evening under the stars. The film is part of the outdoor screening series that lasts through September. Thanks to our friend Rachel in Berlin for the tip! More ‘Spınal Tap‘ news, and videos, after the jump…

Like what you see? Well great ready for more, because the boys in the band are back from the dead. The trio behind Spinal Tap and the Folksmen (of ‘A Mighty Wind‘) are releasing “Unwigged & Unplugged: An Evening with Christopher Guest, Michael McKean and Harry Shearer” on Sept. 1. The DVD was recorded at a live concert to celebrate the 25th anniversary of ‘This is Spinal Tap,’ on May 31 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

That’s not the only way the band is celebrating the big 2-5. They’ve also released ‘Back from the Dead‘ a brand-new album, plus exclusive short film and song downloads on iTunes, and tons of YouTube videos. For more Tap news, head to Spinal Tap Fan, a site which features everything from Tap news (including updates on a troublesome Tap-inspired California license plate ‘GO 2 11‘) to original Tap-inspired art. Here’s what the boys are up to today.
