The Scene: 2 Kolegas

In our guide to Music+Travel, writer Nick Frisch shows you all around Beijing’s experimental music scene. And while the city is teeming with cool clubs and cool music, we’re especially feeling 2 Kolegas. The club is a no-frills dive bar located in a former drive-in movie theater, started by two friends (hence the name). 

It’s a bit of a hike to get to Kolegas’ Chaoyang digs, but with China’s best live shows, an outdoor lawn and events like the weekly  Waterland Kwanyin experimental showcase programmed by leading avant-garde musician Yan Jun, it’s well worth the trip.
