Budapest is known as the ‘Festival City’ and one of the most popular festivals of the year is the Autumn Festival. Much more than a celebration of Fall, this festival, which began in 1992, is a celebration of contemporary art. The 2010 festival takes place from October 8th – 17th and will feature performances in music, dance, film as well as shows featuring photography and computer generated art; the goal of the Autumn Festival is to demonstrate contemporary Hungarian culture in Budapest.

The festival website keeps a detailed calendar of all the events going on that includes the ability to build your own personalized schedule. Highlights include the opera, The Wonderful World of Mobiles, which will have its world premiere on October 9th, the Food & Film Festival on October 13th and the New Music Studio highlighting music from the 1970s until today.
