Spotlight On: Robert Rauschenberg

Originally from Texas, artist Robert Rauschenberg came to call New York home, spending his formative artistic years in the city before moving to the remote island of Captiva, Florida. Rauschenberg became well-known for his ‘combines,’ pieces that combined painting and sculpture, art that labeled him Neo-Dada. His sometimes romantic and studio partner Jasper Johns also shared this label with him.
