Looking for a rock ‘n’ roll twist on a rustic vacation? Then head to the Rosa Muerta, the desert hideaway designed and built by LA punk rocker-turned-architect Robert Stone. Exposed to the elements, the 1,300-square-foot all-black bungalow is a “glamping” site — that’s glamourous camping — and for $220 a night you get a shower, spa, kitchen, and all the other amenities of a luxury home, minus the walls. Instead, the open and glossy black surfaces and mirrored ceilings are meant to compliment, and contrast, the surrounding Joshua Tree desert.
