Biography

Pelin Turgut writes about Turkey for a variety of publications including
Time magazine and The Independent. She is also co-founder of the !f Istanbul
International Independent Film Festival, held each year in February, which hosts some 70,000 people and celebrates new directions in world cinema.

What is the most memorable film/travel experience you've had?

As far as film-going pilgrimages go, little beats the genuine enthusiasm and enchantment afoot in the ancient city of Kars, a sleepy ancient town in Eastern Turkey (famously depicted in Orhan Pamuk's novel Snow) when the Festival on Wheels stops there every November. Locals, few of whom speak a foreign language, brave snow and bitter cold to pack screenings of
adventurous European films.
