Author Darrell Hartman gives a big shout-out to Museyon Guides, with five movies filmed in surprising locations. That scene with this post … it doesn’t get more iconically Wild West than that, right? Wrong. It’s actually Almeria, Spain, cinematic backdrop to many of the most iconic Westerns ever filmed. Learn more about your favorite movies and test your on-location knowledge with Travel + Leisure and Museyon Guides.

Directors are drawn to Morocco for its intoxicating blend of heat and chaos, so much so that Alfred Hitchcock chose to remake his own film The Man Who Knew Too Much, relocating it to the city of Marrakech. From the northern port of Casablanca—setting for one of the most beloved films of all time—to the city of Ouarzazate near the edge of the Sahara, Jose Lustre, Jr., is your guide to Morocco.

About Your Guide: Jose Lustre, Jr. saw Apocalypse Now as a 14-year-old and immediately planned a visit to Saigon. He made good on his promise and has since outrun a rock avalanche in the Himalayas, been hit by a truck in Indonesia and people-watched in downtown Ramallah. He recovers in Los Angeles, where he is a writer and IT manager. He holds a degree in Print Journalism and Film Production from the University of Southern California.
