Beyond the Axis of Evil: Iran

Since the first movie house opened in Iran in 1905, the country has had a long cinematic history. The U.S. State Department currently discourages travel to Iran, but Museyon Guide Mikael Awake braves the journey. Join him as he explores Iran from the massive metropolis of Tehran to the remote village of Koker, and discover Iran’s rich film culture along the way.

About Your Guide: In addition to co-writing the script for an upcoming biopic about marathoner Abebe Bikila, Mikael Awake recently went to Ethiopia to help film the IDA award-winning documentary, A Walk to Beautiful, about women suffering from fistula. He is working on a screenplay about a travel agent who is afraid of flying.
